Wow that was a long time ago since my last post. Well i'm going to try and update every week. but since I don't have any really cool progress on any projects I'll tell you a bit about my printer.

Just a wee little thing
It started out as a kit from printrbot.com, version 1310 I think. with a total print volume of 4x4x4 and pulled and pushed by some string wrapped about a sandpaper covered pulley, it was basic to say the lest. But it was a great kit, a bit hard to put together but still simple enough that you can't muck it up.

after building it, i immediately had issues with getting the print to stick to the bed. the wood bed was not plastic friendly and i'm pretty sure it was warped. after a little bit of research i found out that painters tape is used to help. I used this method for some time after, since it was the only thing that seemed to work.
First good print

Not a bad start

Most complex print yet!
Sharp style

Now we get to the first major problems. after only a few days of use, my UBIS hotend failed. the nozzle nut cracked off and the whole thing was junked. But when i called Printrbot they happily replaced the hotend. It was a quick and painless swap besides the waiting game.

So much taller now!
Gen 2 Upgrade! After about 2 months of playing and toying with gen 1, I upgraded to the XL tower. i got a bigger bed at 6x4x5 it was a big deal. A lot more projects could be built. I also started to add belts. if you look at the corners of the bed and the front base plate you'll see some purple parts. these are the start of my heavy mods from iamjonlawrance, a wonderful designer on thingiverse and I'd say a godfather to the printrbot simple. It also got me a place to put my spool! so simple yet so necessary.

Now with more length!
After about a week of that I then upgraded the Y axis with his 300mm no sag mod, as well as more fans for cooling the part and hotend.

After that version I stopped talking pics of the bot as it grew. it currently stands as a 200mmx200mmx145mm printer with a heatbed. it is no longer tethered to my computer as the LCD and ramps card allow full control over it from the screen. I'll work on the pic of it's current state soon.

Hello world! My name is Zac, and this is a blog about my many projects here at Evil Labs INC. most of the these projects have been done by others, but I've always wanted to throw my two cents into the hat. I also want to use this blog as a changelog of my projects and as a note book of sorts. documenting both my failures and successes

In the future you will see my 3D printer, as it grows and changes. My InMoov full sized 3D printed android, and some other projects as they pop up.

For now enjoy some links to the projects main pages
